Pool Volume Calculator
Calculates total water volume in gallons based on pool shape and dimensions. Supports rectangular, circular, oval, kidney-shaped, and irregular pool geometries.
How it works
Rectangular: L×W×D×7.5Circular: 3.14×r²×D×7.5Kidney: 0.45×(A+B)×L×D×7.5 (all in cubic feet × 7.5 = gallons)
- You enter
- Pool shape (rectangular/circular/oval/kidney), length (ft), width (ft), depth (ft), shallow end depth (ft), deep end depth (ft)
- You get
- Total gallons, cubic feet, liters
How accurate is it? Assumes uniform or average depth; irregular pools may require breaking into multiple sections; measured water depth required.
These are estimates, not quotes. See How We Estimate.
Worked example
Rectangular pool 25ft×10ft with 3ft shallow end, 9ft deep end: Average depth=6ft. (25×10×6×7.5) = 11,250 gallons.

Reference table
| Shape | Formula (all in feet) |
|---|---|
| Rectangle | Length × width × average depth × 7.5 |
| Round | 3.14 × radius² × average depth × 7.5 |
| Oval | 3.14 × (length ÷ 2) × (width ÷ 2) × average depth × 7.5 |
| Kidney | 0.45 × (width A + width B) × length × average depth × 7.5 |
When to use it
Determines accurate gallon count to ensure proper chemical dosing, equipment sizing, and turnover rate calculations.
Initial pool setup, first chemical treatment, equipment purchases, maintenance planning, cost estimation.
